Nothing much exciting happened today. It's almost the end of the week and I'll visiting mum & dad for the next few days so not sure I'll have much to post for a while.

I know it looks a bit like my petticoat is on display, but it was a deliberate thing. I wore a black dress under the blue one and left all the buttons opened to try and show that it wasn't a mistake. Somewhere during the day though I had done all the buttons up ... so I guess for most people it did infact look like my petticoat was "flying the flag". Oops

Bird Watching

I'm not COMPLETELY going overboard with bird watching, but I do plan to do a bird survey from an environmental website. I did one of these a few years back at school with the kids, and it was very interesting. We've had a lot of construction lately and a lot of trees knocked down, it would be interesting to see if the large variety of birds we spotted has decreased now.

Anyway, I felt that my safari dress was more appropriate for bird watching then lion hunting when I wore it today!!

It's hard to believe that I spent a life time avoiding red and hating HATING seasons where all you seemed to be able to buy in the stores were red & black.

Just over a year I started my first experiments with red by purchasing a red pair of shoes and a red headband!!! Now I'm no longer afraid of red and find that Red/Black/White is an old favourite!!! I still am a little unsure of red. I have a red dress that I still haven't worn almost a year after purchasing it. I have a red/white skirt that I keep bringing out to wear, but I'm still just not sure why I have a fear of the colour!!

Acessories are easy though and I seem to be able to wear them without worry. This red belt being another old favourite.

Walk in rich and walk out poor!
$20 for an apple core!
Kmart your ripoff store!!

Well, that's the song I used to sing with my friends when I was about 18. But honestly, I have never hated Kmart because when I was a fat 18 year old, it was the only store around that I could buy things from. I was a bit misguided in my fashion style but Kmart had heaps and HEAPS AND HEAPS of fashionable plus sized belts and cheap accessories back in those days and plenty of other clothes that I couldn't find anywhere else. My only other options were to head into the city and pay more dollars than I earnt in a week for old ladies styled clothes at Grace Brothers of David Jones. I did try going to David Jones' once, but there was a door man, and I had never experienced that before, so I ran out of their feeling like everyone would be looking at me thinking "what is she doing in this place?". It took me more than 15 years before I ever went back again... and sadly, when I'd actually appreciate that service nowadays, the doorman is no more.

So, here is my thanks to Kmart and an outfit that saw me through a very hot day today. These shoes are perfectly comfortable for someone with an injured toe and just enough style to not look like nanna shoes either.

Thanks Kmart!!

Festive

It's amazing all of the Christmas decorations in the stores now though I guess there are only 40 days or so until Christmas so it's not surprising, but it does seem to be coming on us fast.

Today I went to another street festival. Plenty of things for sale for people to buy as presents, but I really don't have presents to buy. I've already got The Boy some of his gifts and he'll pick something for himself when we go buy our presents together. My family downsized Christmas years ago, which none of us have ever regretted. I'll have a name drawn from a hat to buy for, and that person will tell me what they'd like!! *LOL* ... easy. Even though we know what we get for Christmas it's still fun to be together, and this may be my Mum's last Christmas, so it's important we do spend it together. Do you do loads of Christmas shopping? I used to find that when I did buy presents for everyone, I'd spend 3 times more than I had planned.. mostly because for every present I bought someone, I seemed to buy myself 2!! hee hee, so really, being away from the stores before Christmas really does save me a fortune!

I'm trying to not wear so much makeup on the weekend, and unless my hair washing day falls on the weekend, or I'm going out, I'm going to just comb my hair and not use the hair straightener. Whenever I wear my contacts I get asked if they are tinted. The truth is, they are ever so slightly tinted just so I can find them in the solution, or maybe if I dropped one on the sink, but basically my eyes are bluer than the contact and the tint makes very little difference. Today I downsized my makeup to some lipstick and mascara and just a touch of tinted moisturiser because it has sunscreen in it.

And in other news.. I had convinced myself since June that this necklace was missing. I searched everywhere for it and under the sofa cushions at least twice. Hmmm.. guess where it was? I can't explain it because I've vaccummed under there since June. All I can say is I am glad it's back!!

Relaxed Style

After a one hour talk with my wonderful sister who I love so much, I feel a little less stressed. I do feel for her as most of my parents illnesses fall onto her shoulders and she is running 2 homes as well as dealing with my mother in respite care. Today though news of mum seemed positive. Not that she is going to get better, but that she is happier in her new home.

I did have plans to go shopping, but instead I've sat around my nice clean flat eating oranges, drinking coffee and bird watching!! I have the best tree and while it sounds so geeky, I'm going to start cataloguing the different types of birds I see in it. After an hour I saw 6 different types including a honey eater, a pigeon (hate hate hate), a starling, a noisy minar bird and a magpie!

I'm going to take myself for a walk now (though I've had to change my shoes as I have an injured toe that will only survive hills with opened toes!). I might pick myself up some Indian curry as I have such a craving for it!! Yummo

Matchy Matchy

Maybe a bit matchy matchy but this is what I wore today. It was a warmish day today, but I knew I'd be spending most of it working on computers in the coldest room in the school. In summer you need a heater and thick socks in there if you stay for more than an hour! By the end of the day I think my eyes matched my cardi, shoes, bangles and legs *LOL*

Also, I've decided to post my "Holy Cow".

I have a horse like this, but my cow tends to wear my jewellery that's been taken off for the day until I bother to take it to my jewellery hanger. Sometimes I can have days worth of necklaces on it, and it can tend to look a little like this ..

Here's my blue outfit:
